That step, a sigh straight into the face of choices – trodden before and myriad cast in front.
Sighing down the tendons, flushing through muscle.
Toes squeeze.
Calves tighten and
the earth rushes up in a spurt, as she slowly does.
Air crisp. Burning, insistent.
Breath blankets her head, nearly blinding sight.
But she sees.
And she breathes.
And as unsteady as life is…she
rises into it.
