Fantasy Faire — Imagine

Day 7 tally tops $16,000 USD, according to the Fantasy Faire website.  And according to the group IM last night, an extra day has been added.  If that’s true, the last official day will be Monday, April 30th.

Like so many of us, I’m grateful for the extra day because I would love this event to remain for as long as possible.  It’s really more than an event, the Fantasy Faire.  It’s truly a world within the virtual world.

Everyone who built this world and this shared purpose should be commended.  It’s all an experience so true to the core of this culture that it’s tangible:  from the hunts, the tinies playing drums to the paper boat floats and beyond.  And the builds…well my goodness, they really are spectacular.  I wish the builds could remain for a couple of days without any shops so that the regions alone could be as fully appreciated as everything they hold.  Every year I tell myself I’ll explore the builds on the last couple of days of the Faire.  I hope to do that tomorrow or Monday, but if I’m distracted by more FFC vendor items, well, that’s a tradeoff I won’t mind.

It’s all for such a vitally important purpose:  imagine a world without cancer.  Imagine.  Then put action into those imaginings.  Because as all of you and all of this proves again and again…dreams really can come true.

Fantasy Faire — Emissaries of Light & Darkness

The Fantasy Faire lets loose its armies in the fight to find a cure.  Emissaries take many forms.  For this post, very very wonderful and uber talented friend Dale and I chose those that are flipside of the same coin:  Light and Darkness.  Both working together in this most noble of crusades.  The crusade of hope, strength, courage, healing, love, joy, health, determination, focus, community.

(wonderful photo by Dale)

With only two days of the faire remaining, now is the time of the Deep Breath before the plunge.  (Yes, Pippin.)  We have all joined arms, contributed at such an astounding level, marveled at the incredible builds and creations, seen many wonderful things.

(another wonderful photo by Dale)

Just last evening, Dale and I teleported nearly right on top of a GIANT avatar in The Tides sim.  She towered over everything, shifting her weight, blinking her glow eyes and looking down upon the near pileup of avatars at the landing point.  Everyone gaped at the GIANT.  Dale and I thought she was a statue at first.  I felt like a newborn again, staring in wonder at this amazing world.  More than five years later of indescribable heart and in the midst of such amazing convinction that the Fantasy Faire always creates, I smile in such wordless gratefulness at the incredible spirit here.

Take a deep breath, draw your spirits up even higher, even more powerfully, and plunge into the Fantasy Faire tonight and over the two remaining days.  With every purchase from a FFC vendor, shout those battle cries of hope and healing.  Storm the Faire grounds.  Ring that bell loud and long.

Day 5 tally, according to the Fantasy Faire Weblog, is $14,842 USD raised so far, with the rest of this week to Sunday remaining.  I’m posting fast and furious because the entire Fantasy Faire has been so incredi-freakin-awesome this year, I can hardly stand it.  Here’s the first of today’s entry, posted during a lunchbreak from that atomic-world place called “work.”

One thing’s for certain…participating in the Fantasy Faire is anything but work, as demonstrated by all of our efforts together.  Indeed, if any “labor” at all, it’s one of love.

Let’s continue to love the heck out of those FFC vendors and change the world!  See end of post for details on FFC vendor items, where 100% of the proceeds goes to the American Cancer Society in the fight to eradicate cancer.

Fantasy Faire — Strength

Strength in numbers.  Strength in convinction.  The Day 4 tally on the Fantasy Faire weblog shows a record of more than $10,000 USD reached.

At some point during the day today, a tweet from FriendsFightCancer announced that the 3 million linden mark was reached.  Talk about convinction!

And we’ve all only just begun.

Be it land or sea or any way that you choose, wear your strength loud.  Wear your strength proud.  Not only will you look smashing in these FFC vendor items, where 100% of the proceeds goes to the American Cancer Society.  But because of your incredible efforts and commitment on these days of the Faire, the most noble fight to eradicate cancer moves increasingly, noticeably forward to that one even greater day when a breakthrough is discovered.

Let’s break on through to the other side.  Head back to the Fantasy Faire and overrun the FFC vendors with your purchases.  See you there, again and again and again until that cure is found.

Fantasy Faire — Guardian

Everyone can see from just the fair activities alone and the incredible builds that everyone involved with making this event a reality has worked incredibly hard.  And they continue to.  Today, I see on the official Fantasy Faire website they’ve rolled out a hunt — the Faireland Saga Hunt — with gifts on every sim.  For those interested in the hunt, there’s a little primer well worth reading to get you on your way.  And RFyre’s FFC vendor offering “Black Guard II” makes the perfect ensemble to wear on the journey.  (Check the end of this post for the slurl to The Tides sim where you’ll find RFyre.)

This item, like so many of the items at the faire, is another offering that’s loaded for bear.  The chest armor comes with a sizing menu.  And the entire outfit delivers multiple shirt and jacket options and textures, multiple options for wearing the chest armor (with or without cape), two skirt lengths, wonderful accessories (belt, wrist cuffs, hood)…all of which seems to allow for an endless combination of looks.  I love the always-rich texture, a signature of RFyre items.  I find the color black challenging to photograph properly, and so here I opted to showcase “Black Guard II” in a couple of different windlight settings in an effort to convey all the richness and detail of the pieces.

“Black Guard II” is so rich and evocative of another time and place that you’ll find it lowers your guard immediately, compelling you to click on that vendor item and make that purchase.  And all with the knowledge that 100% of the proceeds from this purchase goes to the fight to eradicate cancer.  If that’s not the sweetest victory, I don’t know what is.  Journey to The Tides sim to get a warrior guardian outfit befitting of the Warrior that we all are in this battle.

Fantasy Faire — Color!

Color me Joyful!  Day Two of the Fantasy Faire finds more than $9,000 USD currently raised because of YOU and your commitment — demonstrated over and over again — to end cancer.  On top of that wonderful determination and passion, absolutely everyone involved has completely outdone themselves.  I’ve snapped up quite the haul of glorious creations and plan to return to the sims many more times to admire the incredible builds, the incredible heart and determination that is so very evident from beginning to end.  Before then, though, check out these wonderful FFC vendor items, with 100% of the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society in the fight to eradicate cancer.

The aquarium pictured above is more beautiful and longer from end to end than the photo conveys.  It’s such a lovely piece that truly creates quite the soothing effect. I find myself lazily gazing at those elegant schools of lapis and blue fish as they whirl around in gently rolling waters over white sands.  I thought it rather quirky to snap a picture of an aquarium on a deck by the sea.

The irony made me laugh a bit, and in smiling I immediately thought of this ensemble to wear for the photoshoot.  The dress is an utter burst of color as if a garden exploded.  The exotic butterfly mask skin (an entire skin) is fun and mysterious.  And the kicky-joyful hair is rambunctious and oh so playful. Oh! And the shoes? Take a look at the detail on the heel.  Not only is that a bird cage on a stand, but that’s a bird perched on the edge of the cage and peeking out of the open latch.  An amazing amazing amazing construction!  I’m just smiling and shaking my head in admiration of these creations.  And you will too, I promise you.  Grab the slurls at the end of this post, continue to participate and be the most magical part of the entire Fantasy Faire event.  Because your commitment and resolve to help find a cure is the magic.  It truly is.
