Op zoek naar Maria – Dans in het Centraal Station van Antwerpen
(Looking for Maria – Dance in the Central Station of Antwerp)
This is the first time I’ve seen this and what a joy! Look at what some Adults do! Planned or spontaneous or both, who cares. From any way you look at it, *wow!* the power of collaboration and community. Of all sorts and with all types of persons, all ages. In all worlds.
A good reminder that, eh, LL? So, LL? Let’s start from the very beginning…
Big Brother in a Sauron Moment espies an Adult deep in the act of passive thought
And because this particular Eye can’t speak, what the Mouth of Sauron might say from his castle…somewhere…on some quarantined land…say, a continent maybe or something…(oh! specifically from the Sims2!)…
Then there’s this little jump to the left or to the right or to somewhere, maybe even full circle when it comes to attempts at profiling and thought control (however well-intentioned). …Don’t forget to open your umbrellas. And whatever you do, for criminey sake, don’t behave like an adult.
It’s astounding, time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely, not for very much longer
I’ve got to keep control
I remember doing the TIme Warp
Drinking those moments when
The blackness would hit me and the void would be calling
Let’s do the time warp again…
Let’s do the time warp again!
It’s just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it’s the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane,
Let’s do the Time Warp again!
It’s so dreamy, oh fantasy free me
So you can’t see me, no not at all
In another dimension, with voyeuristic intention
Well-secluded, I see all
With a bit of a mind flip
You’re there in the time slip
And nothing can ever be the same
You’re spaced out on sensation, like you’re under sedation
Let’s do the Time Warp again!
Well I was walking down the street just a-having a think
When a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink
He shook me up, he took me by surprise
He had a pickup truck and the devil’s eyes.
He stared at me and I felt a change
Time meant nothing, never would again
Let’s do the Time Warp again!
I know. I seem to be fixated with Pas De Deux. Well. It’s for good reason. In fact, *many* good reasons. Misteria Loon, the creator of Pas De Deux, is a huge talent. And, after six months under the tutelage of uber-talented Shenlei Flasheart (creator of the Shengri La Vintage Marketplace), Misteria and her Pas De Deux fashion line have gone from relative obscurity to a jam-packed fairy fashion show that nearly brought down the Shengri La sim. And it gets even better. Because after that stellar fashion show, the owner of Phat Cats (wowww yes!) contacted Misteria, they talked, and now Pas De Deux has a shop at Phat’s, with Misty’s debut scheduled for April 20th (and I have heard talk of a pre-opening on April 19th).
Yes, that means Misty is about to graduate and leave her apprenticeship with Shenlei in Shengri La, but you know what? We couldn’t be more thrilled for her and where she’s landed. Eep-squeeze me? Wow!! Okay…WOOT! even. And a mega HUGE thank you to Harper Beresford who mentioned mega awesome Pas De Deux to the owners of Phat’s. I have a feeling I’m going to say “mega” and “awesome” alot, so get ready. Trust me, if you had the wonderful priviledge that I have had to find this talent and watch her grow under Shenlei’s guidance and see her get launched into the Phatland stratosphere, you’d be saying “mega” and “awesome” until you turned blue, too.
(A delightful segue…)
Speaking of the color blue…look at this gown (pictured at the opening of this post and entwined throughout). Just look at it. Is it not scrumptuous? Just perfect for Phat’s, which gazillions of people know as a hugely popular, very elegant formal dance area. When I first rezzed more than two years ago, in my very first month, I used to go to Phat’s. I haven’t been there since my very first month, but Phat’s is the place where I fell in love with gowns…and where I waddled for a while until I got rid of the duck walk and where I wore my system skin until I bought my very first skin, but I digress.
The gowns (and the music) are sublime there. And now, on April 20th, Pas De Deux will open its shop there. *This* gorgeous gown will be there, made especially by Misteria for her Phatland opening:
Yum, oh yes, indeed, yum. Big time. It even has a butterfly on the shoulder. A glorious gown to begin with and with the added touch of the butterfly on my shoulder, well, it is utterly perfect and my most adored for all time.
Here’s another breathtaking design Misteria created for the opening:
Yet again, this gown is rich in color and texture and elegant beyond words. This dress comes with two gown choices, one long (pictured here) and one tiered. Have a gander at the back of the dress (note the lace edging at the hem of the gown…it is sublime):
By the way, all of these photos were taken at various places other than Phat Cat’s. I was so excited to see these gowns when Misty showed them to me that I put them on immediately and began snapping pictures. (And thank you, Dale, for the wonderful photo of the front of this gown. You caught me more than a bit flustered by these gorgeous creations, so much so I was in search of the best place to photograph them. Well, smiles, your clean, beautifully composed captures make *any* location the best place, as always.)
As for the best location to find Pas De Deux and Misteria? Definitely Phat Cat’s on April 20th and into the future. Do head over there if you’re at all interested in gorgeous creations (who isn’t) from a new and genuinely wonderful talent and grand person in Misteria Loon. As much as we are so very much proud of and delighted for Misty, we know without a doubt that you will be just as delighted, yet again, with her creations.
Misteria Loon’s fairy fashion show on Saturday, April 4th, on the fairy grounds of the Shengri La sim was a gorgeous display of this new designer’s incredible talents. This beautiful presentation was masterfully conceived and put together by Shengri La estates owner Shenlei Flasheart, with enthusiastic support from 15 models who generously volunteered their time, and beautiful photography by Utopian and award-winning photographer Callipygian Christensen.
Despite what was for many a very early morning, a huge number of SL residents stayed through the hour-long program…in fact, pushing the sim limits to its capacity. Attendance remained at near capacity for the full hour, with many admiring the models perched on bunnies and leaves along with the dancing fairy models in the groves. That many attendees snapped up Misteria’s gorgeous gowns and wore their new purchases immediately speaks volumes to the enthusiastic response all had to her fashion.
Kicking off the day-long celebration is the fairy fashion show. The very talented Misteria Loon, creator of Pas De Deux apparel, will have her fashions showcased in the fairy woods that are located just behind the Shengri La Vintage Marketplace where Misteria has a shop. Our special thanks to Jen Shikami of Seven’s Selections for generously donating wings for the models to wear with some of Misteria’s gorgeous gowns. Our special thanks also to the models who volunteered their time in support of Misteria Loon and Shenlei Flasheart.
As curator of the Shengri La Vintage Marketplace, I have the distinct pleasure of seeing the designers’s creations and have blogged several times about Misteria and her wonderful creations. Misteria is a bright, new talent who draws her inspiration from nature. Truly, her delicate designs reflect her love of earth, air and the heavens; they are as ethereal, light and joyful as the creator herself.

It has been our great joy to know Misteria and to watch her grow over the past several months into a highly talented designer-in-residence at the Vintage Marketplace. In fact, Misteria was one of the very first designers to be accepted into this wonderful program, created by Shenlei Flasheart. As many know, Shenlei is the uber talented and highly successful designer of both Prim & Proper fame and Debutante fame, as well as the Shengri La estates owner. In early fall 2008, Shenlei established the Shengri La Vintage Marketplace as a way to help new designers get a leg up in the SL fashion world. Since that time, Shenlei continues to focus her generous spirit, considerable skills and vision on helping bright, new talent grow.
Under Shenlei’s leadership, Shengri La has become known as a place “Where Dreams Come True” … well … a stroll through the estate quickly demonstrates plenty of evidence to support this claim. On April 4th at 7 am SLT, please do join us in celebrating the realization of Misteria’s dream to create gorgeous fashion. We think you will agree that she has, indeed, she has.
