Celebrating Belief, Artistry, Authenticity
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no person could have dreamed would have come their way.” ~ William Hutchinson Murray (1913-1996), from his 1951 book entitled The Scottish Himalayan Expedition.
The elementary truth: “…the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.” The Shengri La Vintage Marketplace lives this elementary truth. As do the new-ish designers who have set up their shops for the next six months in the Marketplace. Shenlei Flasheart – Marketplace visionary and CEO of the five-island Shengri La Sims – announced the designers, complete with photos and bios, yesterday. (See the Shengri La Utopian blog.) Verily a day ago, we just invited our fourth designer into the Marketplace.
Their work is so wonderful and original that I couldn’t help but post a blog about them as well. Here (below) are a few photos of their amazing creations, with two photos taken by the incredibly talented and generous Callipygian Christensen. Their shops in Shengri La contain more gorgeous items. Please visit soon to peruse their gorgeous artistry. I’m certain that, like us, you will be delighted by their creations…not to mention the breathtaking surroundings.

Michele – Beautiful items you all have selected! I wandered over to look this weekend. Couldn’t decide which treat I deserved first! 🙂 Wavered back and forth on the dresses and finally decided: went home wearing the Whiskey & Sunlight necklace!! 🙂 Keep finding us wonderful treats!!!! Best of luck to everyone. I’ll be back…..
Indeed, the biggest challenge is in selecting one item from one of the shops. There’s wonderful authenticity and artistry both, in the shops and the overall sims. Glad you settled on something to start off with, Ahuva. You can’t go wrong with any of the items. I have the piece (and couldn’t resist buying more)…Saiyge’s eye and work are exquisite.
